The board discussed the possibility of producing A DVD to give to prospective members. Cost would be fairly low to reproduce and Craig said he would be able to edit it on his computer. Suggested topics were some of the pictures from the 2005 DVD, especially the award pictures, a short video of selections from a show.

Opening Social: Lots of fun to have one that doesn't include horses. Bowling was suggested. Mike Gardner uses Spanish Forks bowling often. He said he would check on time available, price, and if we could bring in food. Suggested dates were April 27th or 28th around 7:00.

Flash* POA Opening Social will be held Friday, April 28th at Duke Lanes in Spanish Fork. Time is 7:00pm

The clinic will be at Sandy Morgan's place on May 13. There will be pattern help for Western Equitation and Reining. This should be an excellent clinic.

Rocky Mountain POA Sale needs help with bookkeeping at the sale. Members who can be in Hurricane and would like to help, please call Mike Gardner or email him. We also need ringmen(women) to help watch for bids. JoJo will work with decorations, but she needs help with that. Please volunteer!

Select Sire: Cecil Loftin is chairman

Suggestion: since only 3 stallions have been purchases for the 2006 foal crop and the information has been slow coming out, Cecil suggested the other stallion owners be notified and offered a one-time purchase of $150 to have their 2006 foals eligible. Mare nominations would also be required. The time period would end on April 1st,2006 without a penalty. The board discussed the opportunity of having larger classes and extra money in the select sire. As it stands there would be only a couple of foals per class. Shauna Hatch was asked if she would be interested as a stallion owner and she agreed to buy in. Several others will also be asked. They also decided the select sire bids for 2006 (breed in 2006 for a 2007 foal) would be opened on 4/15/2006. The board agreed to allow stallion owners to pay in by April 1st without a penalty.

Tony Hugoe a long time POA member has offered to donate a yearling colt to raffle. Mike offered to check the colt out and pasture it.

JoJo Lindstrom brought up a slick, colored directory for Utah POA club. The board discussed the options. The overall opinions were a slick directory would be too costly for the size of the club. The advertising needed to offset that cost would probably not be available to us. Some associations are able to give their directories away at feed and tack stores, but most of those are taken by those who have no intention of using it. Utah POA may not be large enough to absorb those costs and still have money for year end awards and the costs to run shows. Suggestions on a color flyer to be hung in feed and tack stores with possibly business sized cards available.

Scott Woodward indicated he will need a club member to take the job as secretary. There have been some individuals who have indicated a willingness to take it on. Mike Gardner said he would speak with them and determine the feasibility.

Scott Woodward had information and an application for a grant. The board would find costs on items to be included on the application. There is no guarantee with any grant application. It is due at the beginning of May.
